Our Journey to Excellence

Since its inception in 2006, Evoke Maintenance Services (EMS) has grown from a small local contractor into a leading provider of construction and maintenance solutions across Queensland. Starting with a focus on underground coal mining, EMS expanded into civil construction, renewables and infrastructure. Our reputation for safety, efficiency and quality work has helped us establish long-lasting relationships with clients in various industries.

Jonathon Drayton

Managing Director

Jonathon is a results-driven professional with a proven track record of successfully managing multimillion-dollar mining and construction projects from conception to fruition.

Jonathon co-ordinates employees, tradesmen, engineers and architects, as well as building good relationships with clients, in order to ensure the timely completion of projects within budget. Jonathon also brings extensive expertise in team-building, leadership and quality-control management to his role at EMS.

Brendan English

Managing Director

Brendan English is the founder of Evoke Maintenance Services with 20 years’ experience and a wealth of knowledge both in coal and hardrock mining and in business. As a self-motivated manager with a background in electrical construction, Brendan has a deep understanding of both facets of EMS’s core business as well as team management strategies that empower his people. Highly adaptable to new conditions and business requirements, Brendan is well prepared to lead the company to long-term success.

Mick Finucan

Director – Construction Manager

Having spent twelve years in the civil, construction and mining industries, Mick has the knowledge and drive to deliver projects to a high standard whilst keeping safety firmly in mind. Starting his career as concrete form setter and steel fixer, Mick was mentored through the ranks to the position of Project Manager. With a proven track record, Mick has the skills to consistently execute projects safely, on-time and on-budget.

Jake Barber

Director – Mining Projects Manager

With over 20 years of underground coal experience and 25 years in the mechanical profession, Jake has worked his way up from the floor as a production fitter in the longwall, development and outbye areas of mining. Holding an associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering has assisted Jake in his roles as a conveyor maintenance, installs and technical manager for both mining and OEM companies.

Adding to this Jake has held positions as a Mechanical Engineering Manager at two mines within the Bowen Basin. Jakes ability to execute both operational activities and projects gives him a unique edge within industry.

Scott Mitchell

Project Manager

Scott started his working career as a qualified Carpenter over 15 years ago. Scott has worked on many projects in the construction, civil and mining sectors in carpentry, quality assurance and project management, bringing a wealth of knowledge to his role as a Site Manager in the mining sector. Scott strongly believes in delivering project works to a high standard, always with a focus on safety

Justin Gascoyne

Blast & Paint Manager

Justin has over 17 years’ experience in the mining industry with years of solid experience in surface preparation and the application of all types of industrial coatings. From CHPP maintenance, structural upgrade projects, dragline and mining equipment, workshop floors, demarcation, and everything in between. Justin is always looking at ways for continuous improvement, loves challenges, has a strong focus on safety and delivering quality work on time every time.

Rob Sullivan

Project Manager

Rob has been in the construction and mining industry for 20 years in a variety of roles. After becoming a qualified carpenter, he moved into the mining sector, maintaining plant and infrastructure which lead to supervising and training roles. Rob excels at building relationships, finding solutions to problems with a strong focus on safety to achieve quality outcomes.

With over a decade of experience in the construction industry, Tim has evolved from a skilled carpenter to a construction manager, and now a project manager in the construction, mining, and civil industries.
